Test Practice 3
WALT - a. Interpreting what word problems are asking me to work out.
For this weeks activity Mrs Tele'a gave us another activity to get ready for our Gloss test. A Gloss test is a test with only you and the teacher. While I was going through the slides it felt like the questions were getting easier, so I think that the other test practice was very helpful.

Equivalent Fractions
Learning About Equivalent fractions
Today we learnt about equivalent fractions. When we first started we had to get a piece of paper and our teacher cut the piece of paper in half. Next we had to fold the piece of paper in half and in the half we had to write 1/2 in each square. Next we had to fold it again and we had to write 1/4 and we folded the piece of paper again and we wrote 1/8. I wasn't sure about what our teacher was talking about but when started I understood a bit more of what she was talking about.
Equivalent is fractions that are the same amount but different numbers, for example 3/4 is the same as saying 6/8. Hope you now understand what equivalent fraction means.

Extension Reflection
Last term for extension we had 3 choices to pick from and those choices were either to make a game that disabled people can play and also make a game show and to try and make a song but we had to make them with Makey - Makey. My group picked the game show because we wanted to entertain people with different questions and we wanted to see if they knew the answer.
In my group there was Sheena , Atareita , Danielle , Alisha. I loved the group that I was in we were focused on what we had to do and we worked together on the difficulties we had. We made our game show with the help of Scratch and we also made our buzzers with playdough.
Next we had to present our game show in front of the class. Then we grabbed two volunteers which was Talita and Simon. The seem to like our game. There where a bunch of different questions that were easy and also hard but they got through the hard and easy questions.
In our group we had different jobs to do. I had to make the buzzers and sounds and I also had to test them out when they were done. Next there was Danielle she also had to make the buzzers and she did some coding. Sheena was finding out where all the wires go to make the buzzers work. Alisha was helping Sheena with the wires. Atareita did the coding the scores and also the backdrops and also the buzzers.

Film festival Manaiakalani
Have you ever got to film a movie or be in one? Well I am here to tell you about what I experienced. Yesterday my film festival group and I got to finish filming. In some scenes it was quite hard to look serious because I would always laugh during acting. If you are wondering what a film festival is, A film festival is a event that we have once a year. Basically film festival is when each class creates there own movie, then they present there movie at the cinemas. I have a few Ideas for 2018. One of my ideas would be Impressions Of Famous Actors, A day in the life of a year 7. Some things that i could include music and also different kinds of shots and angles from the camera. I hope you enjoyed reading and I hope to see many movies in the future.

GEGNZ Student Summit at Ormiston Junior College
Today the Year 7 & 8 Extension class luckily got to go to the GEGNZ Student Summit. We got to show other schools how we create the news on PENN. We got to present our speech that got given to us and also we had to memorise it. There were so many different schools there. The first thing we did was we had to go into to their auditorium and they welcomed all schools that were there.
After the big welcoming we got to go and have a break and have morning tea. After having morning tea we had to prepare for presenting, we had to walk up the stairs and get to the room that we were presenting in. I was quite nervous because I didn't know how many people were going to be there. When it was presenting time we had a small audience that turned into a big audience.
It was really fun and some of our students got prizes and I was also one of them.

Education Speech
First of all I would like to say good morning to the class and also to the teachers. Today my speech is about why all education should be free. Education is very important in schools and it also plays a very important role in our lives. In some schools kids can't afford education so then different people pay for it.The more knowledge we get, we grow and learn more in our future life. Education doesn’t only mean being good and getting certificates it means more like the people that can’t afford education there probably just self taught and won’t have any friends or even a teacher to guide them through what they're learning. That’s why we need free education for people who need it most. So my question for you is Do you think that we need free education in our schools.

Space Technology
In extension I read an article about space technology and how it's helped us. I learnt that our satellite has helped us with a lot of things in so many different ways. it helps people travel and also go to different places. Satellites help us know whats going on around the world. So here is what I picked up when i read the article. Hope you enjoy reading.
Well I think that space technology has helped us with a lot of things such as TV’s, Telephones, Computers and many more. It even helps us with telephone calls and also it helps people find out what weather will be today and tomorrow. Some satellites can help with Cars and also airplanes. This is why satellites are so important to us. Space technology has helped us understand how Earth works and how we can keep it healthy.

Introduction
|
Today I am going to be talking about my trip to Polyfest. My trip to Polyfest was so cool but the worst part was when we were sitting in the sun it felt like I was melting and burning. We then had to split into groups of 6, 7 or 8 people.
|
Information
1st highlight
|
My first highlight was going to the digital poi station with my group. When we arrived to the Digital poi truck we all made a line inside of the truck. What we had to do was to wave around a digital stick and when you wave around you can see it says ASB Polyfest.
|
Information
2nd highlight
|
My Second highlight was going sitting outside of the Police van. We had a little safety talk with the policeman and they were telling us about the bad things we shouldn’t do in our life. They called up some volunteers to be the good cop and another person that would be the bad guy and we were with another group of student from another school.
|
Information
3rd Polyfest importance to students etc
|
My lucky last highlight was going around to the food stalls and buying stuff. I reckon that my group was the best because our teacher was Mazel and he bought our group a milkshake each. After that we walked around to different store and bought some donuts the donuts were so nice! Furthermore we went to the Diversity stage and it was fun watching their performance!
|
Conclusion
|
That was the best day of my life!!! It was so fun we then walked around the food stalls and looked for activities with prizes. We first went to the ASB Rugby Ball Chuck. There was three holes and what we had to do was to try and get the rugby ball into the hole. It was finally my turn to chuck the I chucked the ball but I had bad luck and I didn’t get it in. It was time to go back to school, when we reached our final destination. When we got out of the bus I really wanted to sleep.

How you can save water.
Save The Water!!
We need to save the water and we don't have much time because there are a lot of people littering and chucking their food scraps into the ocean.
We don't have much time before the oceans and seas are polluted.
To save some water you need to fix any broken tap in the house because broken taps can waste a lot of water everyday unless you fix it!

My Visual Mihi
My Visual Mihi
As you can see in the top left corner it shows the Tongan flag, that flag represents my culture and on the flag it shows a turtle. The turtle is a Tongan creature you will see a lot of turtles there!
In the left bottom corner you can see a cross. That shows that I believe in Jesus and also go to church. Going to church is important to me because I am a christian.
In the top right corner it shows a word that says School. The reason why I chose School is because I love coming to school everyday to learn and also to see my friends.
As you can see in the bottom right corner you can see a word that says Family. I picked the word Family because my family means everything to me and they also do everything for me.
