24-hour Time

For this weeks activity we have been focusing on 12 hour & 24 hour time. There were times where it was difficult to solve some questions but we managed to get through it and finish it. Overall thoughts were that it was good to know how 24 hour time works which most of us already knew about, it was also good to experience. 

Inference

WALT: Test Ready, preparing myself with strategies to do my best in the upcoming tests.

For this weeks activity we were focusing on Inferring. We had to read the book in this presentation to answer all the questions. Some were difficult and some were easy but I and a few others managed to answer the questions. This presentation has got me ready for my upcoming test.

Statictics

For this weeks activity we have been Introduced to Statistics. One thing I knew about Statistics is that there were a bunch of different graphs. Isn't that cool! Knowing that there are a lot of different graphs you can put lot of Data into more than one graph. Going through this presentation was a good way to look at how Data can be used or how it is put into graphs.

Dancing with the Stars

For this week's activity we got to read a book based on ''Dancing with the stars" Our task was to create a poster that will help other's through their hard times and this is what I came up with. With this poster I think it means a lot of things to other's but to me this poster just give's me one topic and that's to not give up. This activity encouraged me by reading the book and answering the questions.

How to have a fun holiday!

Have you ever thought about how you can turn your holiday into something amazing. Well if you’re interested continue reading this for more ideas.

When it’s time for the holiday’s my Mum & Dad already have a list of chores that we have to do. So waking up in the morning is hard because once my siblings wake up that’s when they run to the lounge and play on the PS4, but when I wake up it’s a different story. When I wake up that’s my Que to clean up the lounge also my room and different areas of the house. While i’m cleaning I feel desperate just to play at least once because I hate cleaning up then looking in the corner and there you see my brother’s playing on the Game Console. I feel like it’s better to do the chores first then to jump straight on to the game console.

Now that the chores are out of the way we can move to different activities you can play. One thing that me and my siblings love doing is playing touch in our backyard or we like going out to the beach with our family and we like playing family activities. There are plenty of other things you can do but these things are my personal favourite things. The reason behind that is because it creates time for you and your family and it’s a special thing cause that’s you and your family bonding.

As I said before me and my siblings love to play outdoors in our backyard, but before playing you need to make sure you don’t ruin your parent’s plants or even ruin their lawn mowing. One thing I learnt from destroying my parent’s gardening is that I had to face some consequences. One thing I learnt from experiencing those consequences is that you should never mess up your Dad’s lawn mowing and your Mum’s Gardening.

As you know once my siblings wake they run straight away to the lounge and start playing on the Game Console. One thing I found out about my siblings is that they sometimes are bossy with the Game Console. So when it’s my turn they take their time as always complaining about why I didn’t turn that way and they also complain about why I didn’t aim for the payer behind me. So what i’m trying to say is that you should always share the game with your family members or whoever it is you’re playing with.

Well there you go! 4 ideas of what you can in the holidays.

Make sure to do the chores before playing on the game console. That way you will have more time to play. Also make sure to have fun playing outdoors and to include your neighbours as well, and definitely make sure to share the game console with everyone. Hope you have a fun holiday!!

Welcome Back

Dear Mrs Tele’a,

My name is Ana Leisi and I am a Year 8 student at Pt England School. My ethnicity is tongan and I am the middle child of three in my family. In my spare time I like to spend time with Friends and Family.

My favourite sports are Rugby, Tag, Touch and also Softball.

This year will be my last year attending Pt England School. My favourite subjects are Reading, Writing and Maths. Right now I am currently looking at going to Tamaki College. I don’t know what other college fits me best. During my work time I don’t like getting distracted and I also don’t like it when I don’t finish my work.

Other then that I hope that as the year goes on you enjoy your time being a teacher in Room 3 and one of our leaders in Team 5. I hope that your class and your students treat you good and I hope you have a fun time in Room 3 for the next two terms.

Holes - The last chapter

WALT:  Summarising - I make effective notes and condense ideas to summarise

For this weeks activity we got to do the last chapter of Holes. At the end it was interesting to find out who left Camp Green Lake and who stayed. It was also interesting to find out what the warden and her assistants were actually trying to find. My overall thoughts on the book were that they should make a Part 2 and that the movie and the book was fun to read/watch. I suggest that others should read this book to experience all the ups and downs in the book.

Inquiry Post - EXPO

   EXPO

Team five decided to do an EXPO to show to Pt England School.
The reason why is because we needed to teach the younger
students about Force and Motion. Teaching makes you
a better learner.

Our group had more than two ideas, our first idea was
to do a catapult, another idea we had in mind was to do an
egg in the water experiment.

For our project we wanted to do the egg in the water
experiment. The reason why we wanted to do this experiment
was because it looked fun, and we wanted to test it out, and that
it concludes Force & Motion.

Our group failed because we didn’t have the equipment.
But we really wanted to do the EXPO with the other Yr
7 & 8 so hopefully we can do it next time.

When we have another EXPO our group should have
the right equipment, and to be ready to present what
we have learned to the Pt England Students.

For this weeks activity we are doing Compound Sentences. We are learning to use conjunctions but, and so. WALT: to use conjunctions to form complex sentences

Dear Nicholas,

What I would suggest for you is that I think that you should stick to your uniform. Why I think you should wear your uniform is because when you go out on trips with your school or your year group people know what school you guys are and that they know that you guys are representing your school well.

If you do not want to wear uniform I suggest that you explain to your school office what the problem is and that you tell them some suggestions on changing the school uniform and if other people agree with you or you can get enrolled into another school that don’t have to wear school uniform.

I hope that these suggestions help you and I hope that everything goes well.

Test Practice 3

WALT -  a. Interpreting what word problems are asking me to work out.  

For this weeks activity Mrs Tele'a gave us another activity to get ready for our Gloss test. A Gloss test is a test with only you and the teacher. While I was going through the slides it felt like the questions were getting easier, so I think that the other test practice was very helpful.

Hello there. Here is one of my maths work for this week. So how you work this out is for example you grab the 1 and the 5 at the bottom of the pyramid which equals 5 so then you keep time sing until you get your final answer.

As you can see in the top left corner it shows the Tongan flag, that flag represents my culture and on the flag it shows a turtle. The turtle is a Tongan creature you will see a lot of turtles there!

In the left bottom corner you can see a cross. That shows that I believe in Jesus and also go to church. Going to church is important to me because I am a christian.

In the top right corner it shows a word that says School. The reason why I chose School is because I love coming to school everyday to learn and also to see my friends.

As you can see in the bottom right corner you can see a word that says Family. I picked the word Family because my family means everything to me and they also do everything for me.
